Morocco is a bigger and more geographically varied country than its size on a map suggests — coastal cities, mountain ranges, and desert regions can all have noticeably different weather on the same day. Timing your trip well depends a lot on where you're going.

Spring (March to May) is one of the best all-around windows: mild temperatures in Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains, wildflowers in bloom, and comfortable conditions for hiking. It's also a good time for the desert, before summer heat sets in.

Summer (June to August) suits the coast best — Essaouira's Atlantic winds keep it cool even when inland cities like Marrakech and Fes are sweltering. This is not the season for the Sahara unless you're prepared for extreme daytime heat.

Autumn (September to November) mirrors spring in mildness and is arguably the best season for the desert, with cooler nights and comfortable days. Winter (December to February) brings snow to the High Atlas — great for a different kind of adventure — while coastal and desert regions stay mild during the day but cold at night.
